Tite 3 |
I have been thinking about Romans 3: 10-18
RépondreSupprimerThis passage sets out a list of wickedness of man; it is not an encouraging passage in itself, but you can see that it is necessary.
10 according as it is written, There is not a righteous [man], not even one;
11 there is not the [man] that understands, there is not one that seeks after God.
12 All have gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is not one that practises goodness, there is not so much as one:
13 their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; asps' poison [is] under their lips:
14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness;
15 swift their feet to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery [are] in their ways,
17 and way of peace they have not known:
18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.
But in everything God desires us to see Christ, and we see in this how perfectly He contrasts to every other one.
“There is not a righteous [man], not even one”; “we have a patron with the Father, Jesus Christ [the] righteous”.
“there is not the [man] that understands”; “And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers”.
“there is not one that seeks after God”; “I sought Jehovah, and he answered me”.
“All have gone out of the way”; “*he* stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem”.
“they have together become unprofitable”;” it is profitable for you that one man die for the people, and not that the whole nation perish”.
“there is not one that practises goodness, there is not so much as one”: “who went through [all quarters] doing good”
13 their throat is an open sepulchre; I am weary with my crying, my throat is parched
with their tongues they have used deceit; The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of the instructed
asps' poison [is] under their lips: His lips lilies, dropping liquid myrrh
14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; His mouth is most sweet
15 swift their feet to shed blood; Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth glad tidings
16 ruin and misery [are] in their ways; all that he doeth prospereth
17 and way of peace they have not known: to guide our feet into [the] way of peace
18 there is no fear of God before their eyes; having been heard because of his piety
I agree totally on the wicked condition of men and women. This is why when in my testimony I say : I was going straight to hell if it hadn't been for the Lord's grace and mercy who caught me up in my pit. I am forgiven and redeemed now by Jesus my saviour who died on the cross for me. Have a blessed week-end brother David.
